In 2010 the Bundestag set up a Commission inquiring into “Internet and digital society”. For the first time, large parts of this parliamentary commission were public and citizens were invited to act as additional experts and provide input into the work of the MPs and invited experts. This was realised via the platform https://enquetebeteiligung.de/ which was used to submit about 500 proposals of which some were integrated into the final recommendations of the commission.
We are happy to welcome Katharina Frier-Obad to Düsseldorf who worked in the administration of the Commission and was responsible for the exchange with citizens.
